ABOUT MATTHEW TRUJILLO AND IN THE MIDST
WCC Editions is excited to announce the print release of Matthew Trujillo In the Midst, featuring two editions of 25 in unique colorways and 20 hand-embellished monoprints. Local Austin artist Matthew Trujillo collaborated with master printer Gary Lichtenstein this winter to transform the imagery from a 2020 canvas painting into a new silkscreen creation.

In the Midst was initially created at the beginning of lockdown in March 2020. Trujillo explains that this was the first time he had the opportunity to create without a deadline on the horizon, allowing him to slow down and meditate on what was most important to him. In the Midst encapsulates Trujillo’s bold graphic style and signature brushstroke, symbolism that reminds the artist of his home in Las Cruces, NM, and represents finding light amongst hardship. Trujillo and Lichtenstein experimented with color and texture, employing a total of seven silkscreens, to create this limited edition release.
